What is Freelancer Friendly accreditation?

Freelancer Friendly accreditation is something a production or production company can apply for when they arrange exit interviews for their crew, and is a logo they can display on their website. Many factors are taken into account – from how happy the crew were with the culture of the production to whether contracts penalised those crew members too stretched to take all their holiday, or whether they've arranged training for those who need it. It also takes into account how a production or production company have responded to any feedback they have received. No production is perfect, but production companies can make genuine efforts to improve when they know what isn't working well.

Once our data sets become large enough, Freelancer HR will publish a league table of production companies in order of freelancer friendliness.

In the long term, we hope broadcasters might adopt this accreditation – much like the Albert Accreditation for environmentally friendly productions – and in that way encourage their productions to prioritise looking after their freelancers.
